           In spite of being simple and so utterly affordable, the 5” jointed red fin possesses such unique qualities making it one of the most effective big fish plugs on the planet.   Time and time again, I’ve ignored the red fin while in search of a lure to fill the next empty slot in my bag.  It wasn’t until my visit to Montauk that I realized the power of this tiny plug.  The bait shops in the area all stocked this little plug like it was the best thing since sliced bread…I just didn’t get it until I actually gave it a try. 

          I was absolutely amazed that the striped bass couldn’t leave this thing alone.   There were times when it was the only thing that could coax them to bite.  The only modification I made was to replace the trebles with size (1) 4x VMC’s.  After this change, it was truly striped bass worthy…
